“Targeting the start of the summer to heighten skin cancer awareness, Verbrec offered to its employees, annual skin monitoring to check for lesions and changes to skin condition which could indicate the development of something more sinister. Every year that we have offered this skin examination by Skin Aware, Chelsea has found something on the skin of our employees which was of concern, warranting a second opinion and often minor surgery. Every minor surgery represented a life saved at some point in the near future. Last year, the discolouration of a small patch on my skin on my head, under hair, changed in shape. It was slightly bigger in one corner and a little bit darker. It turned out to be an early stage melonoma, which if left unchecked, would continue to put my life at risk. I started this monitoring program to help my fellow employees, not expecting that I would be one to see the greatest benefit."
